About the Theatre of Change

Paul HunterPaul Hunter – Founder and Company Director

Paul founded Theatre of Change in 2006 to introduce his new, unique and exciting ideas about employee relations, change management and HRM into the modern workplace. It has been his ambition to help re-shape modern, proscriptive management consulting. Paul has carried out significant research on an innovative and unique behavioural concept called ‘theatre practice’, which is a very powerful tool to create a very effective platform for reflection, participation, discussion and change. Paul’s interest in theatre practice began in February 2004 during a project he was working on to develop new ideas to improve motivation and increase employee self awareness during his Masters Degree at Glasgow University. The theatre has, of course, been in existence for thousands of years, however the idea of a crossover into the modern business environment was a relatively new one. Paul found the whole experience quite literally life-changing, as he found himself questioning his own well established attitudes, opinions and beliefs and becoming aware of the full extent of his own personality and how he interacted with and treated other people.

Paul graduated with a joint degree in Business Management and English Literature in June 2004 and likes to combine as he puts it “the science of Management with the magic of literature and drama” to further develop his ideas about motivation, employee relations, behaviour management, influencing and leadership. Paul also graduated with an Msc in Management Research, December 2008. Paul's research looked at the advantages of implementing a Theatre intervention within a modern organisation to raise awareness of and tackle issues of Bullying and Harassment. The full text of Paul's dissertation can be accessed in the 'case study' section. Paul also has a professional teaching qualification and is a natural facilitator. Paul has previously worked for companies such as AXA Insurance, Norwich Union, Direct Line, Nestle Waters, Lloyds TSB, BUPA and recently delivered a series of teaching and coaching programmes for the University of Wales and the Chartered Management Institute.

Many of Paul’s friends and colleagues appreciate his candour, sense of humour and strong work ethic. Paul still enjoys reading Shakespeare of course, and loves philosophy, psychology and travelling.
